Ezinearticles and traffic

Admittedly, I’ve been more than skeptical that an article on ezinearticles.com would produce traffic. With millions of articles already on the site, how could “my” article ever find the light of day? So, being part of the 30 day challenge, I opted to follow through with their techniques and write just ONE article with no hopes of success.

One day I sat and wrote a 295 word article for one of my sites. The article will not win a Pulitzer Prize, but it wasn’t trash either. I think it took me a total of 20 minutes. The majority of the time was spent signing up as an author.

I submitted the article and had it reviewed by their editors within two days. The article went live on 30 Aug 2007 and I was named an “expert author”. To date the article was viewed 319 times and I’ve received 25 site visits. These visits spend 4.22 minutes on the site and view 2.25 pages.

This is just one article. What if I wrote nine more? You get the picture. From my brief experience, I would definitely recommend you write a few articles to support whatever site you’re working on.

Before the 30 Day Challenge I had never heard of Mike Mindel. His site Mike Mindel – Thirty Day Challenger is refreshing and well written. Even if you’re not doing the challenge, you need to read the blog. You won’t find a better example of what blog posting should be like.

If you’re blogging (or even considering it) you should read this post on screen captures.

I’d like to publicly state that without Mike’s comprehensive reviews of Ed’s rambling podcasts, I’d be lost. Great work Mike. I certainly appreciate all you’re doing.

How Your Website Can Make Money In Just Months: Ebook by Randy Brown

I first heard of Randy Brown over at the Digital Point forums where he posts under the name “Tearabite”. He was writing about his website success and came up with a no-nonsense ebook (which he calls an “ebooklet” due to it being only 14 pages long). The ebook chronicles how Randy took his site from zero to > 3000 dollars a month in a mere eight months.

I had an opportunity to read through it and I can tell you it’s packed with insightful information about what he tried and what worked for him. If you’re new to monetizing a website or aren’t having much success so far, this ebook is for you. Some of the areas discussed are:

  • niche marketing
  • website creation using a content management system (CMS)
  • web hosting
  • URL optimization
  • site navigation
  • user created content
  • traffic creation secrets
  • Adsense and other advertising

Another part I like about the ebook is that Randy just lays out the content. I’m very much a “just say it” kinda guy. I’m not into the stories and endless fluff to make an ebook 99 pages (when it really has 10 pages of actual content).

Currently Randy is selling this ebook for a mere ten dollars. I highly recommend you purchase it. Anything that can save you precious time is worth it. Like I’ve mentioned before, your time is your most precious resource. You can search the forums and scrape together bits and pieces but you are making much better use of your time taking advantage of this ebook.
