Gotta luv Ed. Today we get him podcasting from his car. I just keep reminding myself “this is all free” so I’m not sweating it too much. My favorite part is where you suddenly hear sirens and Ed busts into a rant about why people won’t just pull over for ambulances! Makes you wonder if there is someone behind Ed saying “why won’t people just drive their cars instead of trying to PODCAST while driving!”

Ed confirmed in the podcast that most of the terms being researched won’t be on the Google Trends charts. The key is to check the language bar and make sure you have at least 1/6 of the bar in searches.

Ed also introduced the concept of “200″. We should be expecting that only 1 in 200 people will purchase a product. So, doing the math, if we get 60 visitors a day, it will take about 3 days to get a sale and win the challenge! So for today we are to whittle things down to two markets and look at the competition and affiliates.

Reading through the boards and getting a feel for my team members, most of us are still struggling with the low Google Trends results. Hopefully this really pans out but I admit to some healthy skepticism regarding the validity of Google Trend data displays. We know nothing of the approximations being used and the developers have warned not to make much of anything out of the results provided. I’m going to trust Ed and crew but it’s tough. The disparity between Wordtracker and Google Trends is not so easily explained.
