Excellent Ebiz Broadcast

I visited Shoemoney’s blog today and found out that he’s been hosting an excellent broadcast show. You can check it out here.

The second week show was quite helpful regarding monetizing forums. I haven’t tried setting up a forum yet, but it definitely can be profitable for some.

The biggest tip given during the interview on forums was that your forum must offer some tangible value (especially if you want people to subscribe). Value can be things like T-shirts, prizes, money, etc. I also liked the idea of awarding people prizes when they reach a certain post count (that could be abused, but it still sounds great).

They also recommended vbulletin as the best forum software. Be sure and listen to the show.

Profitable Blogging

I found this great post over at problogger. Darren explains how he has started and nurtured a new blogging site. Definitely some good ideas. He’s also had some excellent traffic for the first few months. His explanation?

Most traffic has come from a number of links it’s had on sites like Lifehacker, Engadget and Gizmodo as well as the flow on effects of being picked up on social bookmarking sites.

He’s leveraging the high traffic sites to his advantage.

On a side note: It’s been an interesting few weeks for me. I haven’t been posting much due to a much needed vacation from work and spending some time with my new fiancee. Things have settled down and I’m again in the hunt to make a profit on the internet.
