Does Linkshare Pay?

This week, without any fanfare or notification, I received a check from Linkshare for my first quarter affiliate earnings. Linkshare still has issues though. The reporting feature for payouts shows nothing when I log in and check. I think the CJ interface is better.

So how are things going? Well, I can’t quit my day job yet. The linkshare check was for a whole $8.94.

My recent work has all centered on starting and maintaining various Wordpress blogs on unique domains. I’m still learning the Wordpress API and other features. It’s a powerful tool and I do recommend it.

Worst 5

  2. Valentines – Shop Early & Save 10%
  3. Give a Gift Certificate this Holiday

What is their advice?

This is going to sound “stupid simple” to a lot of people, but here goes: Your subject line should (drum roll please): Describe the subject of your email. Yep, that’s it.

This doesn’t address conversion rates, but it does give an idea of how to get your E-mail read. People are innoculated against advertising which the worst 5 prove easily.

Ebiz through Wordpress Blogs

I’ve recently started making websites using Wordpress. I first heard about it in various forums and with Hostgator it comes as an easy install. Here is what I’ve been doing:

1. Ebiz idea
2. Purchase domain name at godaddy.com
3. Add sub-domain on my main hostgator.com account
4. Route the domain pointers from godaddy to hostgator
5. Using the cpanel admin with hostgator, go to fantastico
6. Once in fantastico, select Wordpress

Just answer a few install questions and the script will install and configure everything for you. Congrats, you have a blog!

The install will give you the default template but I doubt you’ll be satisfied with that. Here is where you’ll need to learn some CSS. The Wordpress admin panel allows you to modify your theme files, but be sure to back them up before starting.

Another great thing about using Wordpress is the community support. There are 100’s of themes for you to use and they are a snap to install. Just download the theme, upload it to your web hosting account, and then it’s available in the admin panel!

If you need a quick website solution, definitely consider using Wordpress.
