Adwords Calculator

Just this week I started an Adwords Campaign ™ to learn how Adwords works. I am trying direct affiliate linking so I don’t even need a webpage. One important part in determining what product to try and sell is determining if you can be profitable with the standard 2% conversion rate.

Important questions:
1. How much will you have to pay for a good position on Google?
2. What is your affiliate percentage?
3. How much does the product you are selling sell for?
4. Are you profitable if you convert 2% of your clicks?

I’m not big on wasting money, so I made an Excel spreadsheet to test all this out before starting a campaign.

No implied warranties with this. Use it at your own risk!

What I’ve learned is that with the standard 0.10 cent Adwords CPC, if you are trying to sell a book on Amazon for 9.95, you can’t breakeven until you convert 20% of your clicks!!! As you can imagine, that’s not an Adwords Campaign you want to consider.

Enjoy.

Commission Junction

I’m still pursuing some of my original ideas regarding affiliate marketing and sales. Just this weekend I signed up for Commission Junction and took a look around. I’m quite impressed with the amount of programs available to partner with (each offering various percentages of sales).

Reading through the various affiliates, many ebiz ideas popped into my head. You could easily pick one product, search out a niche, find the niche search terms, and then make a site. Just consider what you could do with CJ affiliate Home Depot?

I’m about 50% done now on my first affiliate site. I fully expect to be 100% live this weekend. I’m excited to see how things work out.

The Vitale Challenge Part II

So far so good. I’ve gone to Zietgeist, researched the most popular searches, and found something that interests me. I then registered a domain name and have started constructing a site. While that is going on, I have also started to research an “e-product”.

Vitale says “Be creative. Develop something people searching on this topic will want.”

Here is the hardest part. How do you determine what someone would want? What can I develop that is unique to the free information available? What angle will I approach this topic?

Because the topic I chose should have more life to it over the next year (not just a one week wonder), I’m looking to develop more into the site than Vitale’s suggested quick one page selling website.

So, today is all about making the e-product. I’m going to brainstorm, research, and start writing.
