What’s in a Domain Name?

As I continue to work on ebiz ideas, I’ve been researching different domain names. I stumbled across a domain name that I was shocked was still available. After fighting the urge to immediately purchase the name, I went to Overture and looked up how often the term is searched for. To my surprise, the exact term and associated keywords were searched for less than 3 times a day.

Compare that to Paris Hilton’s stats: 37,767 searches a day. Well, you can do the math. It appears to me this is a lesson in learning to hear what the search engines are trying to tell me. Though I may think the idea is GREAT, it appears there is no real search interest in it.

End story: I didn’t buy the domain… yet. ;)
