The Holy Grail (TM) of any ebiz is the NICHE MARKET. Ever elusive but gold if you find it, the niche market is the rare jewel and fountain of ebiz wealth (or so they say).

Technically you can define a niche market as a small portion of a market that is not readily served by a mainstream product or service.

The hope is that the small ebiz company can effectively reach this neglected or under-serviced market. But even if you find a niche, you still need to determine if the segment is online and if they have cash to spend on your product.

Niche thinking:

1. Computers (Grand Canyon here, too big)
2. Gaming Computers (ok, getting better)
3. Cheap PC Gaming Computers (even better)

There are still layers to peel to get to a core, but this is on the right track.

For me, I am looking to find niche markets that I can use for affiliate programs. I read this thought provoking story and it sparked some ideas.

My immediate goal is to set up some affiliate accounts with computer/electronics sites (though the payout sucks at 3%-5%). A little niche marketing skills just might find me a 1000 dollar a month affiliate website.
